Indigenous Knowledge

Indigenous ways of doing things (including ways of working together):

The Indigenous Knowledge Standing Committee (IKSC) is responsible for developing and stewarding COPPUL’s Indigenous Knowledge Program.

Recognizing that there are Indigenous ways of doing things is critical to the Indigenous Knowledge program. Flattening committee hierarchy and being aware that we are all teachers and learners are values that are reflected in the governance and actions of the committee. Working within Indigenous ways of doing things also includes recognizing that at times Indigenous approaches and authority may take precedence over existing structures and authority. Understanding these values is necessary for decolonizing the ways that COPPUL and academic libraries govern their committees.
