Resource Sharing Community

Purpose

The COPPUL Resource Sharing Community brings together COPPUL members who have roles in supporting resource sharing (interlibrary loan/document delivery or ILL/DD) activity within COPPUL as well as in the national and global context. The Community will work together to promote resource sharing services in academic libraries by formulating policies and procedures, by advancing and supporting emerging trends and by addressing relevant copyright, licensing and delivery issues.

The group will be responsible for identifying issues and developing strategies to:

  • Support optimization of ILL/DD services among COPPUL Libraries
  • Identify opportunities to make the most effective use of technologies in ILL/DD
  • Work collaboratively to share information and ideas about ILL/DD practices and issues among COPPUL Libraries
  • Keep abreast of developments in resource sharing at the regional and national level
  • Propose service standards for electronic and physical delivery
  • Review copyright and database licensing implications for Document Delivery
  • Advise COPPUL Directors about Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery developments and propose changes and enhancements as appropriate
  • Facilitate collection and analysis of resource sharing statistics as required to inform the work of the Community or that of other COPPUL groups/initiatives
  • Consider intersections and policies between special collections/archives and resource sharing in partnership with other working groups and committees.
