Licensing Subcommittee

Purpose

The Licensing Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the COPPUL Collections Standing Committee. The Licensing Subcommittee assists the Licensing Coordinator with review and negotiation of licenses for electronic resources licensed by COPPUL and supports licensing initiatives and expansion of licensing expertise at the local and consortial level.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

Guided by the Collections Standing Committee and Licensing Coordinator, the Licensing Subcommittee:

  • Provides as-needed support and advice to the COPPUL Licensing Coordinator through review and analysis of specific licenses under negotiation, as well as broader trends and issues in e-resource licensing, reflecting the perspectives and operational needs of member institutions.
  • Periodically reviews and recommends updates to the COPPUL model license to ensure provisions are current and relevant and supports the development of new guidance or model language where required.
  • Considers and develops position statements and other communication strategies that support licensing initiatives and advocacy, as needed. 
  • Contributes to professional development opportunities and knowledge sharing to support COPPUL colleagues in developing licensing expertise and capacity.
