Announcing COPPUL Indigenous Knowledges Coordinator

Katrina Philpotts will be starting with COPPUL on January 6, 2025 as the new Indigenous Knowledges Coordinator. Katrina is a proud Inuk from the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut, and is currently based in Victoria. Katrina comes to COPPUL from the Canadian Coast Guard where she works remotely as a Senior Advisor, Indigenous Relations and Partnerships for the Coast Guard's Arctic Region, supporting the advancement of reconciliation, UNDRIP principles and the development of a national intercultural training program. Previously, she worked as Team Lead of Community Action and Learning and the Library Manager of the Bruce Parisian Library at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre. Katrina is keenly interested in working with, advocating for, and uplifting Indigenous communities and organizations and excited to engage with and learn from the Indigenous Knowledge Standing Committee, COPPUL staff and Directors, and the broader community of academic librarians in COPPUL member libraries and beyond.
