When: Tuesday October 30th, 11am-12pm Pacific / 2-3pm Central
Please join the COPPUL Digital Stewardship Network (CDSN) for a series of webinars on digital preservation activities across COPPUL and beyond.
Our next webinar will feature Matt Schultz and Kyle Felker from Grand Valley State University. They'll be talking about an innovative preservation workflow they've developed that integrates Amazon Web Services with repository services from Digital Commons (for a sneak peak on what they'll be talking about, see their recent SAA blog post "GVSU Scripted IR Curation in the Cloud" https://saaers.wordpress.com/2018/09/11/gvsu-scripted-ir-curation-in-the-cloud/).
I'm really looking forward to this session, which will explore a preservation strategy in support of institutional repository content where the "entire process now begins and ends in the Cloud, rather than involving the download of data to a local workstation for processing." And while the tools and services used by GVSU might not be employed by many COPPUL members, I hope their work will stimulate some critical thinking around how digital preservation can be embedded as part of a larger digital collections management strategy.
Staff at all COPPUL institutions at any knowledge level with an interest in digital preservation are encouraged to attend. Session are also open to the general public as space permits.
