Expressions of Interest: Digital Preservation Management Workshop

The COPPUL DPN is looking to host a four day version of the renowned Digital Preservation Management Workshop from June 12th to the 15th at the University of Calgary's Taylor Family Digital Library. Many thanks to Tom Hickerson and Susan Powelson from the University of Calgary Libraries for their support!

Tuition will be approximately $1200 per participant and will include breakfasts, lunches, refreshments, and one group dinner. Participants will be responsible for travel and accommodation costs. A block of rooms will be set aside at the Hotel Alma at $125.00/night plus room taxes. Hotel Alma is on the University of Calgary campus.

To make the workshop financially feasible we need prior commitments from 22 to 24 participants. We’re hoping to limit attendance to COPPUL members in order to help build a cohort of expertise within the consortium to grow our collective capacity, while at the same time enabling our members to undertake more effective digital preservation programs locally. If we’re not able to get the numbers from within COPPUL, a partnership with OCUL would also be a possibility as would promoting the workshop to universities in North Dakota, Montana and Western Washington.

This workshop will be of particular interest to those of you who are establishing or refining a digital preservation program on your campus, or hoping to soon. There are no prerequisites and you don’t need a high level of technical skill or expertise. The workshop is very highly regarded (ask around!) and we’re very excited by the possibility of bringing it to COPPUL.
