Strategic Priorities
Access
COPPUL supports immediate and enduring access to knowledge, recognizing the need for respectful and culturally appropriate care for Indigenous and diverse knowledges.
Actions
- Support members in realizing long-term print and digital preservation goals.
- Reduce barriers to access through resource sharing, advancement of open practices and extension of resource access beyond COPPUL institutions.
- Ensure a principled, innovative and sustainable approach to licensing, accommodating diverse content, communities and metadata.
- In relationship with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and other Indigenous peoples, ensure that respectful and culturally responsive care for culturally sensitive knowledges is upheld.
- Collectively optimize our collections and resources, leveraging emerging technologies for the benefit of our members and libraries.
Community & Relationships
COPPUL creates a respectful meeting ground for networking, progressive innovation and mutual support.
Actions
- Include, engage, listen and respond to diverse communities in culturally appropriate ways.
- Cultivate respectful and reciprocal relationships with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples to inform the work of decolonization and reconciliation.
- Represent COPPUL members in applicable regional, national and international dialogues and initiatives.
- Foster relationships, professional development and mentorship opportunities within and among COPPUL committees throughout member libraries.
Service
COPPUL supports development and capacity building at a network level, while respecting local contexts.
Actions
- Support and coordinate practices that advance anti-oppression, accessibility and inclusion.
- Support and coordinate practices that advance decolonization and reconciliation.
- Optimize systems and processes to improve service delivery and ensure accountability to members.
- Create a culture of assessment to ensure members can communicate their impact to the communities they serve.
