The COPPUL Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Ms. Vivian Stieda will be COPPUL’s next Executive Director. As of August 5, 2019, Ms. Stieda will begin work with COPPUL and will formally assume the role of Executive Director on September 6. Ms. Stieda will be based in Calgary, Alberta. As General Manager of the Health Knowledge Network (HKN) for the past 16 years, Ms. Stieda worked with over 30 academic, health and government sector libraries across the Canadian Prairies to license health information on behalf of health practitioners, researchers, policy makers and post-secondary institutions. Ms. Stieda was responsible for management of day-to-day HKN operations, e-resource licensing, budgeting, staff supervision, as well as operational and strategic planning in collaboration with HKN’s Executive and Partners. Ms. Stieda has extensive project management, policy development and business process improvement experience. Ms. Stieda brings a strong familiarity with other library consortia and a history of successful inter-consortia collaborations. She is an active member of the International Coalition of Library Consortia and Consortia Canada. Ms. Stieda holds a Master of Library Science from the University of British Columbia.
