Skillshare Event

About the Event

This annual event is an opportunity for library staff interested in scholarly communications in Western Canada to come together and share insights, experiences, and best practices.

Sessions typically include hands-on workshops, panels, and group discussions that are focused on practical skills and emerging trends. In an effort to support a local community of practice, sessions are predominantly led by librarians working in COPPUL-member institutions.

Events are held at a COPPUL-member institution* each spring, alternating provinces each year. They are open to COPPUL members at no cost. Lunchtime catering on the day of the event is provided by COPPUL. Travel and accommodations are the responsibility of attendees.

*Due to COVID-19, the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 events have each been moved online.

The online 2023 COPPUL Scholarly Communications SkillShare is on Tuesday, May 2nd. All times below are in (MDT). Registration is now open at no cost to Canadian librarians and library staff. To register, please see https://uregina.libcal.com/event/3720714.

How to Get Involved

Member institutions who are able to accommodate up to 50 participants for 1.5 days between April and June are invited to contact the SCWG Chair to discuss hosting a future event. Preference will be given to institutions located in a province that has not recently hosted this event and that has access to convenient transportation and accommodation options for attendees.

Individuals who are interested in leading a session at a future event are asked to get in touch with the SCWG Chair.
